A love of books bound a Dundee couple together when they tied the knot in a city tea room.
Sean Gardiner and Elizabeth Reddy opened a new chapter in their lives together after a novel wedding ceremony in the Castle Street bookshop and caf where they had their first date two years ago.
Madigan’s Food Emporium was closed for the day as the shop was transformed into a wedding venue, with the tables at the back cleared away to make space for an aisle.
The couple were married by a registrar in the low-key service, which was exactly what they wanted for their special day.
The simple ceremony required minimal decorating and shop owner Wendy Scullin said the caf’s famous sausage rolls were served up along with a traditional afternoon tea of scones with cream.
Ahead of the wedding, Sean told The Courier: “Madigan’s was the first place both Elizabeth and I thought of when planning a venue.”
Cafe owner Wendy Scullin said: “They are such a lovely couple and they come in here quite a lot.
“We have quite a lot of first dates here, but this is the first wedding. I think a lot of people like it for the atmosphere and the intimate setting.”
A party of 30 guests joined the couple on their special day.
After the nuptials the wedding party went for dinner before the reception, which was held at the 67 Club on Raglan Street.
