The discovery of an unexploded hand grenade in a Dundee flat sparked a major police incident.
Police units taped off Craigie Street and Albert Street at around 6.30pm on Friday, leaving some residents unable to return to their homes as the incident was dealt with.
It is understood that the grenade was part of a private collection and thatofficers were called after concerns were raised.
One resident, Lars Barron, said: “A large police riot van was sitting in the car park from 3pm and at 6pm it hadn’t moved, which I thought was strange.
“By 6.30 there were half a dozen cars and dozens of officers with black baseball caps and all the streets were cordoned off.”
A police cordon held up Friday night traffic as officers awaited Royal Logistics Corps Bomb Disposal experts, who dealt with the grenade within 20 minutes.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Following inquiries earlier in the afternoon, Explosives Ordinance Division in Edinburgh were asked to attend at an address in Albert Street and the incident was resolved.”
