A Dundee mum has been charged with assault after allegedly hitting a primary school child.
The 37-year-old woman was said to have walked into Craigiebarns Primary and hit one of the pupils there.
The incident was reported at 8.50am on Tuesday.
Stewart Hunter, Dundee City Council’s education convener, said: “We would always take children’s safety at school very seriously, irrespective of what it is.
“We would always encourage parents to contact the school if they have any concerns. Schools are very good at dealing with these things.”
A mum with children at the school said she was “surprised” that an incident like this would occur at the school.
“Lots of us get on and we’re a tight-knit group so I am surprised to hear that any incidents could happen here,” she said.
A police spokeswoman said the youngster had not required medical treatment. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
A spokesman for Dundee City Council said the incident was a police matter and they would not be commenting.
