Dundee will find out on November 20 whether its dream of becoming the UK City of Culture in 2017 will become a reality.
The city will face a nerve-wracking six-day wait for the result after the Dundee bid team present their case to the judges in Derry on November 14.
The Department of Culture, Media and Sport yesterday announced the date the competition winner would be announced, but no details of how the successful city will be informed.
Stewart Murdoch, the man spearheading the Dundee bid, said: “It’s great to have a date and we will be on tenterhooks that day. People will be looking forward with anticipation to what that announcement says.”
An eight-strong delegation will travel to current UK City of Culture Derry/Londonderry next month where they will make their final presentation, along with teams from competing cities Hull, Leicester and Swansea Bay.
Dundee bid director Bryan Beattie said: “There is a very good mood in the camp. We are confident that we have put a very good-looking bid together and certainly we want to make it difficult for them to say no.
“The other cities will put in very strong bids as well and we just want to make sure that ours is going to be a very serious contender.”
