Dundee City Council could have to pay over £1 million to keep school project on track
ByAndrew Liddle
Cash-strapped Dundee City Council may have to plough more than a million pounds into a flagship new school campus after a Scottish Government funding foul-up risked derailing the project.
The local authority will now have to pay up to £1.5 million to ensure the new Sidlaw View Primary school has heating because of delays to the £27 million Baldragon Academy.
The primary school, as well as Jessie Porter Nursery, would have used the new secondary’s energy centre but there is now “no chance” it will be completed by its 2017 deadline.
Councillors have been warned that unless they approve the cash injection the primary and nursery may not be able to open on time.
