Householder suffers burned hands in Dundee flat fire

A man was taken to hospital after a fire in his top-floor tenement flat in Dundee on Sunday night.

The outbreak at 12 Arthurstone Terrace was reported just before 10pm and several units from Tayside Fire and Rescue rushed to the scene.

The man was able to escape from his blazing kitchen but not without suffering burns to his hands. He was taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.

Firefighters checked that the blaze was confined to the top-floor flat and assured other residents of the tenement that the incident was under control.

A spokesman said they had not needed to evacuate any of the other residents.
