A chorus of song broke out in Dundee’s Central Library as local singers took part in a Burns Flash Mob Singout on Saturday.
People enjoying tea and cake in the library’s Weavers coffee shop were pleasantly surprised when members of the Wighton Singers stood up from their tables at exactly 11.30am and serenaded members of the public.
Sheena Wellington led the group of around 10 singers in their performance of Green Grow the Rashes and Duncan Gray.
She said: “People were surprised but seemed to enjoy it and some even joined in.”
Oona Webster, who was visiting the cafe with her mother, said the show was a lovely surprise which lifted people’s spirits.
She said: “This is the first time I have ever been serenaded in a cafe and I thoroughly enjoyed it.”
The event was staged as part of the Commonwealth Games Big Big Sing project, which will take place at the Caird Hall on Saturday.
The singers also hope to welcome the Commonwealth Games baton when it comes to the city on June 27.
