Four people have been charged with breach of the peace after a disturbance outside Fat Sams in Dundee in the early hours of Thursday.
Police say 20 officers attended at the South Ward Road nightclub around 2.30am to deal with a crowd of around 40 gathered in the street.
The incident came hours after Scotland had played England at Wembley and witness reports suggest the crowd had been singing football songs.
Police say the crowd were dispersed after around 15 minutes.
Males aged 16, 17, 19 and 22 were arrested and charged with a breach of the peace and are expected to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court at a later date.
A police spokesman added: “Others had their details taken at the time and are subject to further enquiry with an investigation into the full circumstances surrounding the incident continuing today. Those enquiries will also seek to establish whether the incident was football related.
“No one was injured as a result of the incident.
“As part of their inquiries Tayside Division is liaising with local licensees and the procurator fiscal. A review of CCTV is also under way.”
Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who took video footage on mobile phones to contact them on 101.
