A staggering 14,000 people around the globe have backed the efforts of two pals to bring their favourite toy store to Dundee.
Youngsters Ross Fenton and Alex Brown launched an online petition in the hope Lego bosses would consider opening a second Scottish store in the city.
The Grange Primary School pupils have been backed by their parents and their class teacher, Guy Findlay.
Local backing has been supplemented by thousands of other signatures first from across the UK and then worldwide, with the latest support coming from Spain, France, Italy, Portugal and Germany.
Lego has also been urged to make the boys’ dream a reality by the young at heart in Romania, Canada, Brazil, Chile, New Zealand and the USA.
The petition was started a little more than three weeks ago with the aim of securing just a few hundred signatures. Alex’s dad, Paul, said: “Alex is amazed by the reaction. The first target they set was for just 1,000 signatures and then 2,000 when that was reached.
“Since then it has just gone viral. They didn’t expect this for one moment. There are more names being added every day so they’ll be keeping the petition going.
“In the meantime, their teacher will be making contact with Lego to make them aware of the support out there for a new store in Dundee.”
The Lego store in Glasgow is the toy giant’s sole “brand” shop in Scotland.
Bosses at the firm are watching and a spokesman told them: “I understand how strongly you guys want this store to be opened and so I’ve passed your feedback on to our stores team so they can consider it when choosing the next locations.”
