Three people were lifted to safety from the roof of a five-storey block of flats in Dundee city centre on Thursday night as fire tore through the close.
Fire crews were called to the building in St Andrews Street at 9.38pm where they discovered a fire in the close on the ground floor.

An aerial ladder was used to lift three people from the roof of the building after they had clambered onto it to escape the fire.
Student Chris Idu was trapped in his top-floor flat as acrid smoke from the fire rose up through the close.
“I saw smoke coming through the front door and when I opened it there was too much smoke to get out,” he said.
“I closed the bedroom door and smoke started coming under that too.
“I was hanging out of the window with a curtain round my head because the smoke was so thick.”
After firefighters put out the blaze they were able to lead Chris to safety.
Fire crews put out the flames using two hosereels and a jet hosereel.
The walls of the entire close have all been damaged by smoke.
The remains of a melted wheelie bin have been left in the rubbish area at the rear of the building.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said there were no suspicious circumstances.
