Police sealed off the busy road after the Renault became engulfed in flames. Firefighters rushed to the blaze, just outside the Wellgate shopping centre, at 9.20pm. Crews from the Blackness station used hoses and breathing apparatus before finally extinguishing the fire at 9.50pm. The road reopened shortly afterwards. No one was injured. In a separate incident, a fire in a van on Dura Street also had to be extinguished. Police are not linking the incidents. See more in Thursday’s Courier.
