Dundee University has applied for planning permission for a £2 million extension to its centre for anatomy and human identification (CAHID), which is part of the college of life sciences on Hawkhill.
The university hopes to enlarge and upgrade the mortuary facilities within the centre, which plays a vital role in the education of anatomy students.
The proposed extension will be at the west end of the medical sciences institute, which together with the Wellcome Trust Biocentre and the Sir James Black Centre makes up the college of life sciences.
The application has been lodged on the university’s behalf by Broughty Ferry architectural firm Wellwood Leslie.
Plans show the project will involve demolition of a plant room, generator enclosure and bike store, along with the removal of several trees.
