The man in charge of Dundee’s City of Culture 2017 campaign says feedback from the judges had been “very helpful” in preparing for the final battle to win the title.
Leisure and Culture Dundee director Stewart Murdoch said the bid had been praised for involving residents and for its focus on the city’s changing cultural landscape.
Mr Murdoch said: “It was particularly strong in the way in which we talked about the journey of the city over the last 10 years, using culture to regenerate the city with DCA, the McManus, the Rep and now the V&A.
“The feedback reflected our own assessment of the strength of the city, and issues to address there weren’t any surprises.”
The city’s bid team is now preparing the next stage of its entry, which will see more detailed plans submitted by the September 30 deadline.
Dundee is on the shortlist for the title alongside Swansea Bay, Leicester and Hull.
Mr Murdoch said: “The judges were positive about the consultation we had, and they were particularly impressed on the way we engaged with people through the WeDundee website, as well as the number of people involved.
“Now we are looking to continue involving people and extend that.”
