A retired Dundee head teacher will do a bunjee jump this weekend to raise awareness of the rare genetic condition affecting his daughter.
Ian Rae, 60, formerly of St Clement’s and St Vincent’s primaries, is raising money for the PWS Association, which helps people with Prader-Willi Syndrome.
This leaves sufferers such as his daughter Suzanne, 33, feeling constantly hungry and causes mental and physical problems.
Ian said: “PWS gives sufferers an insatiable appetite that they can’t control. Suzanne could eat a five-course meal and still feel starving afterwards.
“When she was younger we had to lock all the cupboards because she would eat literally anything. She would have drunk bleach if we were not careful.”
Suzanne now lives in a care home where her diet can be controlled. Her father will be doing his fundraising challenge at Garry Bridge near Killiecrankie.
“I am more than a bit nervous about this bungee jump. But I’ve raised the money now so there’s no way I can back out,” Ian said.
