A department store chain is set to create 150 jobs by taking over the former Tesco store at the Stack in Lochee.
The Courier revealed last month that the Range was being lined up as the new tenant for the prominent building, which has been empty since the supermarket giant opened its South Road premises.
Company founder Chris Dawson confirmed its investment.
He said: “We are very pleased to be creating a number of jobs in the area and look forward to inviting potential employees to join the team. I would like to thank the council for welcoming us and being so supportive.
“The Range is relatively new to Scotland and we are excited to show the locals that we offer a wide variety of quality products at affordable prices.
“We are continuing to grow fast and expand and I am confident the Range Dundee will help us in doing this.”
Ward councillor Norma McGovern said: “This is good news all round for Lochee. It means a new business, more jobs and more trade at the centre of our popular community that people are rightly proud of.
“It will encourage more people to visit Lochee which will increase sales opportunities for existing businesses.”
Other developments at the Stack include the recent opening of a Home Bargains store and plans for an Aldi supermarket.
