Scottish Water were called out when local councillor Laurie Bidwell reported “foul water leaking on to the beach.” He said: “I think this is a health hazard. It’s certainly unpleasant for residents and visitors and completely unacceptable.” Mr Bidwell was also concerned the leaks could jeopardise attempts to regain Broughty Ferry’s Blue Flag award for its beach. Scottish Water put a leaflet through the doors of properties in the area explaining the leaks were caused by West Ferry Pumping Station. The company installed additional temporary pumping at the station and installed a new seal at the Douglas Terrace leak location. A spokeswoman added: “We will shortly be undertaking significant work at the walkway leak location and will continue to communicate with residents.”
