Police have detained two men after an alleged assault on a 46-year-old male at a Dundee tenement.
The man was taken to Ninewells with head and arm injuries after the incident at a flat on Maitland Street.
It is understood his injuries are not life-threatening.
Two males, both aged 29, were later detained by officers in Tulloch Court.
The incident sparked a major police presence in the area, with officers blocking off both ends of Maitland Street shortly after 5pm.
Officers were stationed at the entrance to the property, with scenes of crime officers and police dogs seen entering the tenement.
One onlooker said: “I came out of Lidl and there were sirens going. Before I knew it, they’d blocked off the whole close. I saw them taking evidence bags out of the building a bit later.”
It was initially thought the man had suffered a stab wound in the alleged incident, but it later emerged this was not the case.
Inspector Graham Young said: “We have detained two men, both aged 29, in relation to the incident just outside Tulloch Court.
“They have been detained in connection with an alleged assault on a 46-year-old man.”
