An elderly Broughty Ferry woman has been robbed in her own home in a “despicable crime”.
The 85-year-old was at home in Maule Street when a woman called at her door at around 7.15pm on Saturday.
A police spokesman said: “She then entered the victim’s home and spoke with her. The victim left the room and upon doing so briefly saw a man in another part of her house.
“On returning to the room the woman was gone, along with the man.”
The thieves took a two-figure sum of cash and a handbag.
The female thief is described as being aged 30-40, of slim build, wearing a striped jumper and jeans.
The man is described as being six foot tall.
The police spokesman added: “This is a despicable crime targeting an elderly person in their own home and we would urge anyone with any information that may be useful should contact Tayside Division on 101 or any police officer.” Alternatively information can be passed anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
