A former Dundee nurse who admitted possessing indecent images of children and extreme pornography was found with video files with a total running time of more than 11 days, a court has heard.
Duncan Trueland, 57, of Thorter Way, City Quay, had admitted three separate charges relating to photographs of children and animals.
He admitted that on June 29 2008 and August 8 2012 he took or permitted to be taken or made indecent photographs or pseudo photographs of children.
He also admitted that on June 29 2008 and August 21 2012 he had in his possession photographs or pseudo photographs of children with a view to distribution.
And he admitted that on August 8 2012 he had in his possession extreme pornographic images.
Solicitor Ann Johnston told Dundee Sheriff Court on Friday that Trueland was a retired psychiatric nurse and was married.
Deferring sentence until August 23, Sheriff Richard Davidson said: “I’ve no doubt this is a huge personal tragedy for you to be discovered and then brought into the public arena but that appears to be the only way we can put a stop to this violent trade.”
Trueland was placed on the sex offenders register and an order was made that he should not work with children.
