Immigration officials raided a Dundee takeaway after it emerged people linked to the shop could be in the country illegally.
Kohe-Noor, a balti and kebab house in Beauly Avenue, was visited by Home Office immigration enforcement officers.
One person was arrested a 32-year-old man from Bangladesh on suspicion of being in the country beyond his visa requirements.
The man has been released on a temporary basis while further investigations are made.
Eyewitnesses said several vehicles had descended on the takeaway, with officials entering the premises and pulling down the shutters.
One said: “There were at least five cars and vans pulled up outside. After a while, they came out with one guy and took him away.
“Once the police had gone, they pulled the shutters back up and carried on trading like nothing had happened.”
A Home Office spokeswoman confirmed officers had visited the takeaway.
She said: “Acting on intelligence, Home Office immigration enforcement officers visited Kohe-Noor, Beauly Avenue, Dundee, on Thursday January 22 at about 6.30pm.
“A 32-year-old Bangladeshi man was arrested on suspicion of overstaying his visa.
“He has since been granted temporary release while his case is progressed and will continue to report to the Home Office during this time.”
Stephen Roarty, from Home Office immigration enforcement, said: “We will identify and arrest people who are in the UK illegally.
“People with specific and detailed information about suspected immigration abuse are urged to contact us.”
A police spokeswoman said there had been no requirement for officers to attend as the Home Office took the lead on immigration issues.
Kohe-Noor has been the target of youths, hurling racist abuse at staff members and police have responded to 16 youth-related reports at the takeaway in just six months.
