Police officer assaulted by patient at Ninewells Hospital

A police officer suffered minor cuts to his hands after being assaulted by a patient at Ninewells Hospital.
Officers had been called to a clinic at the hospital around lunchtime on Monday to help curb a disturbance. During their efforts to calm the patient down, one of the officers was slightly injured, a police spokesperson said.
It is understood the officer was treated at the scene and no one has been charged.
A statement read: “At about 12.30pm today Police Scotland Tayside Division were called to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee following a report of a male patient causing a disturbance within one of the clinics.
“Officers attended and whilst assisting, one officer was assaulted by the patient and sustained minor cuts to his hands. The patient was left in the care of appropriate medical staff. Further police inquiries are ongoing into the incident.”
