The grieving mum of a nine-year-old boy killed on the A90 by Longforgan has hit back at commenters who have blamed her for the tragedy.
Kairon McKay died after being struck by a car at around 9.20pm on Friday.
He was out playing with two older friends.
Since then his mother Laura has been targeted by a small number of internet trolls but said it is the messages of support that have helped her through cope since the accident.
One woman, understood to be from Monifieth, sent her a message stating: “You should never have let your son be out at that time of night…
“You will have to live with this for the rest of your life unfortunately your son doesn’t have a rest of his life because you just couldn’t be ***** to know where he was.”
The comments has been condemned by hundreds of people and, in a post on her own Facebook page, Laura said she has received hundreds of messages from people offering their condolences.
She said: “I don’t know how to express what it means to me and how pumped kairon would be knowing all these people were sending me messages adding me as a friend or following me…”
She said people’s messages of support have “seriously helped me”.
She added: “I have a whole world wrapping their arms around me here…I wouldn’t have got through the last couple of days without every single one so seriously on behalf of my wee manny and me I send u all massive hugs back…”
Police are appealing for witnesses to Friday’s tragedy to contact them on 101.
