Menzieshill High School campaigners to protest at council budget meeting

Campaigners fighting to save Menzieshill High are to protest at next week’s council budget meeting.
David Mundt, co-chairman of the Dundee branch of the Scottish Socialist Party, said the council still has a lot of thinking and listening to do before the final decision on the school is made later in the year.
“There will be an anti-cuts protest at the meeting with a very strong presence from the Menzieshill community attending and I’d like to extend an invite to the whole of Dundee to join us,” he said.
More than 1,000 people have signed a petition calling for the closure of the school to be reconsidered.
Members of the education committee have agreed in principle to closing the school at the end of the 2015-16 session.
A consultation is under way and a final decision is expected in May.
