COMMUTERS IN villages to the North-West of Dundee will be able to use a new bus service later this month.
From May 27 a new peak time bus service, jointly funded by Dundee City Council and Angus Council, and operated by National Express Dundee will start providing direct links between Piperdam, Liff, Ninewells and the city centre.
Dundee city development convener Will Dawson said: “We want the residents of the commuter villages around Dundee to have better bus options for coming into Dundee, but we also want to improve the network of services within the city.
“That’s why we’ve worked with Angus Council to ensure the bus gives us something extra by serving City Road, Milnbank Road and Brook Street in the city.”
These streets have not had a regular bus service since the service 74 was withdrawn in 2009.
Angus Council’s transport spokeswoman Mairi Evans said: “Angus Council is committed to providing a public transport service which meets the needs of its residents.”
She continued: “By working together, the resulting timetable provides a much better level of service than would otherwise be the case for all of the communities served.”
