Plans for road safety changes outside Broughty Ferry schools
ByThe Courier Reporter
Proposals are being discussed to make roads around Grove Academy and Eastern Primary in Broughty Ferry safer for pupils.
These could include more traffic restrictions for cars going past the schools next to each other on Claypotts Road to stop drivers parking illegally when dropping off children.
Andrew Llanwarne, of Grove Academy Parent Council, said they would like to encourage children to walk or cycle to school but the situation causes safety issues.
“We are very keen anyway that more children should be able to safely walk and cycle to school but it is not good if they are being subjected to dangerous manoeuvres.
“I think it is going to be important to look at the way some parents take kids to school because there are serious problems with congestion and ones which we feel create safety issues.”
A spokesman for Dundee City Council said: “The council is in discussion with the schools, parents and police regarding early designs for road safety features to improve safety.”
