Dundee University students reveal vision of future
ByGrant Smith
Could this be the view of Dundee’s central waterfront that future visitors to the V&A museum see?
This concept for the layout of the buildings that may occupy the site by 2030 has been produced for Dundee University’s architecture degree show.
Students have been asked to think about how to develop the waterfront, create buildings that produce their own energy and how to regenerate historic buildings.
The results go on show on Saturday on level 6 of the Matthew Building on Perth Road.
Architecture professor Graeme Hutton said: “The students are exploring issues that really matter such as designs for future schools, elderly care and community housing as well as proposing a facade strategy for the new central waterfront.
“This is based on research which identifies what is unique about the architecture and urban character of Dundee. A scale model and computer generated renderings help convey the ideas proposed. It shows the V&A at Dundee in a whole new context.”
The exhibition is free and will be open daily until next Saturday.
