A Dundee bus driver who put his vehicle out of service so he could kiss and cuddle a 14-year-old schoolgirl has been placed on the sex offenders register.
Christopher Forbes, 32, was spotted with the girl in the back of his number 17 bus by a shocked passer-by, who told her parents about the sordid clinch.
Forbes, of Balunie Street, pled guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16 on March 13, in that he kissed her. The father-of-three will be sentenced next month.
Forbes, who has since quit his job, was working on the 17 service from Dundee Technology Park to Whitfield at the time.
The liaison was spotted by another child, who told her parents. They notified National Express, which investigated the claims.
Depute fiscal Nicola Gillespie told Dundee Sheriff Court: “An investigation was launched by the bus company and CCTV was viewed. Forbes was called to a meeting and asked to explain his actions on March 13.
“He said the girl had wanted to talk to him that’s why he put the lights off, parked the bus and put it out of service.
“He admitted he’d cuddled and kissed her at the back of the bus. He said he believed she was 16 years old.”
Forbes was detained on April 4 and cautioned and charged.
An agent for Forbes said: “He realises this is a serious matter.”
Sheriff Tom Hughes placed Forbes on the sex offenders register and deferred sentence to June 19 for criminal justice and social work reports. He was released on bail.
It is understood the bus company had suspended the driver but he resigned as he “didn’t feel it was safe” to work there any longer.
