Dundee’s SNP branch has been slammed for delivering “biased” surveys quizzing people on the benefits of the Scottish Parliament versus a “Tory Government in London”.
Residents contacted The Courier after receiving the leaflets which contain a number of questions about the so-called bedroom tax before asking about voting intentions and the independence referendum.
One question asks: “Who do you think should decide about benefits and welfare,” with the options being either “Scottish Parliament” or “Tory Government in London”.
There is no mention of the SNP being the Government in charge of Holyrood, or the fact the Conservative Party is in coalition with the Liberal Democrats at Westminster.
Scottish Conservative North East MSP Alex Johnstone branded the questionnaire “ludicrous”.
He added: “It looks like it’s been drafted by a child with a chip on their shoulder.”
SNP councillor Willie Sawers said: “I suppose what we are comparing is the current situation, which is probably going to be with us for another couple of years until we win the referendum on Scottish independence.
“We are just trying to point out to people that a Scottish Parliament of any political complexion just wouldn’t introduce such a policy and the Tories in London have.”
