Pair’s Dundee swimming pool preview was down to contractors’ ‘insecurity’
ByJack McKeown
Two drunk teenagers were able to sneak into Dundee’s new Olympia pool for a late-night swim because blundering contractors forgot to lock the six-months-behind-schedule building.
The tipsy dippers were only snared by police after filming their swim in the unopened £31 million leisure facility and posting it online.
The youths entered the building after spotting an “insecurity.” They swam in the new 50-metre pool and filmed themselves larking around, later posting the footage on YouTube and bragging on Facebook and Twitter.
Tight-lipped contractors Mansell refused to answer The Courier’s questions about the episode. They would not say how or when they became aware of the security breach, fuelling speculation that it was only discovered when footage since removed began doing the rounds on YouTube and social networking sites.
