Firefighters in Dundee were called to a “suspicious” blaze in a derelict building on Sunday afternoon.
The fire began in an empty block at Ormiston Crescent in Whitfield shortly before 1.40pm.
Station manager Fraser Scott said: “We initially had two appliances turned out to it. They found smoke issuing from the building and we committed four breathing apparatus and two hose reels.”
Extra fire engines were also called in from the Kingsway and Macalpine Road stations.
Mr Scott said: “There were two separate seats of fire in the property.
“It looks suspicious. Somebody has gained entry to the property from the ground floor,” Mr Scott said.
“Firefighters have gained entry, extinguished the fire and made a very good job of stopping it spread to other flats.
“They are now damping down, cutting away and trying to ventilate the property.”
Two flats in the block were fire damaged and there was smoke damage throughout.
Mr Scott said: “Any vacant premises should be secured at all times. If the public notices anything they should get in touch with us.”
