Changes to traffic management at Dundee’s waterfront will be made in preparation for the demolition of three of the area’s empty buildings.
In the wake of the closure of the Olympia, the car parks at Earl Grey Place which formerly served the building will be closed from next week.
The temporary pedestrian crossing at the foot of Crichton Street across South Marketgait will also be removed.
Will Dawson, convener of the city council’s development committee, said: “With many of the pieces we need to redevelop the waterfront now coming into place, people can get a far better idea of how the completed project will look.
“The demolition of Tayside House is progressing well and work is about to start on bringing down the former Hilton Hotel, Gala Casino and Olympia, which means that other than contractors’ vehicles there is no need for any traffic or pedestrians to be between South Marketgait and the river at that point.”
The pedestrian crossing in front of Tayside House across South Marketgait will close on June 17 at the same time as the car parks in Earl Grey Place.
Pedestrian crossings at the railway station and Trades Lane are unaffected by the work and will still offer access to the south of South Marketgait.
