Dundee West MP Jim McGovern has challenged David Cameron to launch a full public inquiry into the practice of blacklisting.
The Labour MP raised the issue with the Tory leader during Prime Minister’s Questions, urging him to “take action to ensure justice for victims”.
Mr Cameron responded by saying he believed the changes introduced in the Employment Relations Act 1999 (Blacklists) Regulations 2010, which sought to outlaw keeping lists of employees due to trade union membership, provide sufficient safeguards for the future.
Mr McGovern described the Prime Minister’s response as “disappointing” and pledged to write to No 10 on the issue.
He said: “A full public inquiry is needed to get to the bottom of who knew what so that the victims can have justice done. Blacklisting needs the full light of public attention shone on it, not further secrecy.”
