Efforts are being made to locate a fly-away parakeet which escaped from a Dundee home.
The colourful bird was spotted perching across from the city’s Michelin Factory before settling in the garden of a nearby home.
Despite her efforts, the homeowner was unable to capture the bird.
An appeal has now been put out on social media to encourage Dundonians to keep their eyes peeled for the bird.
According to the owner, the parakeet has been on the loose since December.
Yvonne Reilly revealed that she was both happy and sad now that she has confirmation her missing pet is still alive.
She said: “I want my bird back he’s been gone since December.
“I’ve been down today at the area he was last seen and I hope we will be able to get him back.
“I asked the lady who saw him and took the picture and she said his tail is blue tipped and that he has no ring around his neck exactly the same as my bird. I stay five minutes away from where she saw him too. I’m so happy, but sad as well.
“I’m happy because I know he’s alive, but sad because I can’t find him. This post does give me hope though.”
Yvonne now hopes to be reunited with her beloved bird as soon as possible.
She told The Courier: “The lady who saw him has told me tonnes of information on what times and which areas he goes to.
A Scottish SPCA spokesperson added: “It’s quite common for pet birds to escape through open doors and windows.
“The greatest risk to this parakeet will be wild birds which may attack it or a lack of food, but it seems it has already managed to survive outside for a number of months.
“Locals who want to help the parakeet could leave food out and if anyone does manage to contain it they can call our animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
