Wrestling fans will already know, but to others it will come as a bolt from the blue.
Dundee radio favourite Chris Duke has had his wife Lisa “stolen” by wrestling hero Bravehart.
The dastardly deed was done as the Wave 102 DJ made his wrestling bow during last weekend’s Hell for Lycra event at the Caird Hall.
Nonetheless, Chris described the experience as “one of the greatest moments of my life” as the “storyline” was all part of the fun that unfolded before a 1,000-strong audience.
For many years he’s been an active participant in the wrestling events as ring announcer, but was invited to step between the ropes by the event’s main man Bravehart, AKA David Low.
Chris said his six-minute venture into the ring had left him battered and bruised, though he admitted his opponent had “been gentle” with him.
“The story was that Lisa had been kidknapped by Bravehart and his cronies and was held, tied up, at ringside,” he said.
“I tried to free her, but the villains kept getting in the way until I grabbed a Kendo stick from one of them and gave them a good battering.
“I invited Lisa into the ring so that she could hit their boss with the stick, but as I whipped up the crowd she hit me instead and then left the area with Bravehart!
“Lisa studied acting at The Space at D&A College and she did a fantastic job playing the baddie.”
Chris will now return to his announcing duties and says his wrestling career began and ended with the comedy-packed bout but with event organisers vowing to return next year there may still be scope for “revenge”.
“I’d like to avenge my defeat and Bravehart’s stealing of my wife and I’m hopeful that one of the stars will help out next year,” he said.
