Police appeal after attempted bag snatch in Dundee

Police in Dundee are appealing for witnesses after a man tried to steal a handbag from a woman in the city centre.

The 38-year-old was walking in West Marketgait about 1.30pm on Monday when the man approached her.

After attempting unsuccessfully to make off with the handbag, he ran away towards Lochee Road.

The would-be thief is described as being about 5ft 8in tall, slim and with a light tanned complexion.

At the time he was wearing a burgundy hooded top.

Officers are keen to trace a passer-by who came to the woman’s aid shortly after the incident as he may have information that could assist with enquiries.
