An elderly man’s body has been discovered in his Dundee home around two weeks after he died.
Alexander Emslie, who was in his eighties, was found dead at the property in Union Place.
Known as Sandy, he worked for the General Post Office (GPO) before taking early retirement.
He was last seen alive on March 30, when he met a friend.
The pensioner’s dog was also found dead in the flat.
Police were called to the home on Thursday afternoon after his concerned family raised the alarm.
Neighbour Tola Adu, 40, said: “It’s very sad. He was a good neighbour and used to drop Christmas cards in for us every year. He was always joking with my son and telling him old stories.
“He said he lived in Union Place most of his life. His dog was very old and completely blind. He told me in dog years that it was well over 100.”
Mr Emslie worked for the GPO for more than 40 years and was awarded the Imperial Medal for his dedication to the service. He joined Hillcrest Bowling Club after he retired.
Close friend Joe Flight (69), from Yarrow Terrace, Menzieshill, said: “He was a lovely man and will be missed a lot.”
Police confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and believe the cause to have been a medical issue.
