A Dundee man whose Staffordshire bull terrier mauled a woman with cerebral palsy has been found guilty of assaulting her.
Derek Duncan slapped and punched his “best friend” Nadine Crowe after she threw out a two-day-old Chinese meal in the flat they shared in Mains Loan.
During the assault Duncan’s dog Kaii mauled Ms Crowe’s face, leaving her needing 45 stitches to her ear.
A jury at Dundee Sheriff Court on Friday took 40 minutes to find Duncan, 24, of Cardean Street, guilty of assaulting Ms Crowe to her injury at Mains Loan on May 7 2012.
They also found him guilty of on May 9 at Wallacetown Court sending messages to Kimberley Crowe, threatening violence towards her and her family.
The jury also found him guilty of on May 7 at Mains Loan being the owner of the dog Kaii which was dangerously out of control and attacked, bit and mauled Nadine Crowe to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
Ian Houston defending said his client had not broken bail conditions since the incident.
Sheriff Elizabeth Munro deferred sentence until May 8 for a social work background report, and remanded Duncan in custody meantime.
