The funeral has taken place in Dundee of a much-loved Broughty Ferry charity worker, who died at the age of 46.
Mandy Croal, who was born with learning difficulties, was a valued volunteer at the Age Concern centre in Broughty Ferry for 20 years. She suddenly suffered a heart attack at the home she shared with her parents.
Agnes Wilson, the vice-chairwoman of Age Concern Dundee, said: “Mandy was a lovely person and a very important member of our team.“She always had a nice, cheerful nature and a very good way with the elderly people who come here.
“We all thought the world of her and we miss her very much.”
Mandy went to Balerno and Fairmuir schools before attending the Dudhope Centre and then becoming a volunteer at Age Concern’s centre in Brook Street. She also helped with the Rainbows and Brownies at St James’ Church in Broughty Ferry.
Her father James, 75, said: “She loved her work at Age Concern.
“Even if she had a cold or wasn’t feeling well, she still wanted to go down to help. She was the same with the Brownies.”
Mandy’s main interest was collecting toys, and these are being donated to the Brownies at St James where they will be sold for the benefit of the girls.
Donations at her funeral at the crematorium will go to Age Concern. As well as her parents, she is survived by three brothers, who all live in the Broughty Ferry area.
