A serial housebreaker who targeted homes in Dundee and surrounding villages has been jailed for 39 months at the city’s sheriff court after admitting a string of break-ins.
Alistair Thomas Montague, 23, a prisoner at Perth, stole computer equipment and TVs, plus jewellery and cash from houses in the city as well as in Invergowrie, Birkhill and Auchterhouse.
Montague had admitted a total of seven charges, which also included drugs and driving offences.
The court heard that Montague had admitted that between December 14 and 23 he broke into three properties and stole a number of items including jewellery, laptop computers and TVs.
Montague also admitted that on December 23, in Canisp Crescent, Dundee, along with co-accused Andrew Dow Farrens, 23, a prisoner at Perth, he broke into a house and stole two TV sets, a laptop computer, jewellery, £750 in cash, and other items.
Montague also admitted that on December 23 he possessed heroin and on the same date, in Coupar Angus Road and Faraday Street, he drove unsupervised on a provisional licence.
Montague was also disqualified from driving for three years, six months by Sheriff McGowan, who deferred sentence on Farrens for reports. He was granted bail.
