Roald Dahl’s The BFG will be wowing crowds at Dundee Rep this Christmas.
Stars of the Dundee Rep Ensemble will take to the stage in December, retelling the family favourite. People all over the world have been captivated by the tale of the Big Friendly Giant since the book was first published in 1982.
An animated film was released in 1989 with David Jason providing the voice of the BFG and Amanda Root as the voice of Sophie in the story of good versus evil.
It was then adapted as a theatre performance and is now set to bring Christmas magic to The Rep.
When Sophie spies a giant figure making his way down the road she is spotted, snatched and soon begins her long journey to Giant Country.
Luckily for Sophie, this giant is the Big Friendly Giant, who doesn’t eat ‘human beans’, just foul-tasting snozzcumbers and fizzy frobscottle.
The duo team up to save the world from the horrible child-eating giants assisted by the army, air force and even the Queen so the BFG can once again distribute good dreams to children.
The Rep’s artistic director/chief executive Philip Howard said: “The BFG is a classic family story which jumps from the pages of Roald Dahl’s book to create a spectacular show.”
The show is recommended for children aged five and over.
