Police hunt after teenagers attacked near Monifieth
ByGrant Smith
Police are hunting a driver who ran across a dual-carriageway to attack two teenage boys on the outskirts of Monifieth.
The unprovoked assault happened on Saturday evening and left one of the victims with a badly-bruised face and the other with cuts to the back of his head.
The boys had been walking with friends on the path next to the westbound carriageway of the A92 near the McDonald’s at Ethiebeaton.
A white car with black wheels, possibly a Corsa or an Astra, pulled up in the gravel car park to the west of the restaurant.
The driver got out and ran across the dual carriageway to assault the boys.
The driver of a silver Audi, a man in his forties, stopped on the A92 and shouted at the man to stop, at which point he ran off back across the road, got into his car and drove off.
He was last seen heading towards the Grange Road roundabout.
The attacker is described as being about 19, 5ft 7in and slim with brown hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a checked shirt and a three-quarter length green jacket.
Officers want to speak to any witnesses and are particularly keen to hear from the driver of the Audi.
Anyone with information should call police on 101.
