Firefighters at Dundee Airport have been honoured for their years of public service.
Fire service personnel at the airport were presented with medals to mark the Queen’s diamond jubilee.
The medals were presented to long serving emergency services personnel across the UK in recognition of their years of service to the country.
Grenville Johnston, chairman of HIAL, which operates Dundee Airport, presented the medals on behalf of the Queen at a ceremony at the airport.
He said: “This award celebrates Her Majesty the Queen’s six decades of service to the country and recognises the many thousands of men and women across the UK who have similarly served the public with dedication and commitment. The firefighters at Dundee Airport perform a valuable public service and I am delighted that their contribution has been honoured in this way.”
In total, 146 firefighters from across HIAL’s 11 airports will be presented with the medals, including 14 from Dundee.
Members of the armed forces, police community support officers and operational prison service personnel are also those eligible to receive the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal.
