The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay were met by cheering crowds on their visit to Dundee today.

DC Thomson staff members greeted the royal couple waving Beano-themed flags as they arrived at our Kingsway East offices.

Prince Charles and Camilla were welcomed by Dundee’s Lord Provost Bob Duncan and members of the Thomson family.

The Royal couple spoke to staff during a tour around an exhibition on the firm’s history and its current business interests.

DC Thomson’s new printing facility, which cost around £25 million to install, was then formally unveiled by the Royal couple. Prince Charles was on hand to push the button to start the new press.

The pair then unveiled a plaque to commemorate the official opening of the printing operation.

DC Thomson chairman Andrew F. Thomson, said: “We were delighted to welcome The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay to our Kingsway plant. Their Royal Highnesses toured the presses and met with staff members from our publishing business, in particular production.Photo gallery: Royal couple visit DC Thomson“We are investing significant sums in publishing and we’re proud to be investing in the future of print.
