Police in Dundee are probing the theft of a pedigree dog from a garden in the city.
Blue, a six-month-old dalmatian, was stolen from the address on Napier Drive in Dryburgh last Sunday. The thief also made off with the dog’s bed, leaving the pooch’s female owner, who did not want to be named, “distraught”.
The owner’s niece Nadia Mahmood, 26, said her auntie had only owned Blue for four days before he was taken.
She said: “My auntie’s neighbours were moving away and they couldn’t keep the dog anymore, so she bought him.
“On Sunday evening Blue was out in the back and no one knew he was there. It’s a secluded back and 20 minutes later my auntie went outside and the dog was gone and so was his bed.
“She phoned the police and we went out looking for him, but nobody saw a thing.”
The puppy is named after his distinctive different coloured eyes one brown, one blue.
Nadia said: “I think someone has stolen Blue to sell. My auntie is not coping well at all, she’s distraught. We’re still waiting for the police to come round again.
“We are just concerned. At the end of the day, he is just a puppy and she only had him a few days.
“It’s like a child. Our fear is that he is being neglected.”
The dog has reportedly been sighted a number of times over the last few days at locations including Scott Street, Balgay Park and South Road.
Nadia said: “I spoke to a taxi driver who said specifically he had Blue in his car, and dropped a guy off at the train station with him.
“We have put the word out everywhere and we have put the appeal out on Facebook.
“The dog can’t just vanish. I’m hopeful we’ll get him back though.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Tayside Division did receive a complaint of the theft of a dog on Sunday June 9 from Napier Place, Dundee.
“Inquiries are continuing and anyone who has any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
