A 21-year-old man is expected to appear in court today charged with murder following the death of a Dundee man.

Michael Given, known as Mikey, was found injured in a flat at Elders Court in Lochee on Sunday but died at the scene.

Police confirmed a male had been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and was due to appear at the city’s sheriff court.

Tributes poured in to Mr Given on Facebook from friends and family, with many expressing shock and disbelief at his death.

Mr Given’s aunt, Dawn Reid, posted: “Goodnight my beautiful nephew sleep tight darling x.”

His girlfriend Kelly Weston said: “Rest in peace babe miss you Mikey always love you.”

Dee Garty said: “He was a friend, a father, a son and a good man” while Linda Tarbett posted: “Thoughts go to Mikey’s family and friends. He was one of the nicest guys you could meet. Sleep tight babes.”

Scenes of crime officers are expected to remain at the sixth-floor flat until the end of the week, with door-to-door inquiries set to continue for the next two to three days.

The multi-storey remained the focus of intense police activity, with six vehicles, including a mobile incident unit stationed outside the block on Monday.

Uniformed officers were posted at the entrance to the building, with police also stationed on three floors.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Bobby Dow said: “The forensics officers will probably be there until the end of the week and the door-to-door inquiries will also take a few days.

“We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area of Elders Court in the early hours of Sunday morning.

“I’m conscious that, if there have been people passing through, who were at parties or the like in the block, then we might not get them from house-to-house.

“So I would ask for anyone who was in Elders Court or in the area, from 7pm on Saturday, to get in touch with us.”
