Dundee-born Arbroath High teacher Jim Hunter dies aged 61

Jim Hunter, who worked as a teacher at Arbroath High School, has died aged 61 after a long illness.
Mr Hunter was born in Dundee and attended Hawkhill Primary and Morgan Academy before studying languages at Stirling University.
After taking up a place at Dundee’s teacher training college, he started work at Rockwell High School in Dundee in 1976, teaching French and German.
He took up a post of assistant head of the languages department at Arbroath High School in the early 1980s and worked there until his retirement in 2010 due to ill-health. He married his long-term partner, Sandra, in 2005.
The couple lived in Broughty Ferry where Mr Hunter had a wide variety of interests, including playing pool, bowling and hillwalking. He is survived by son Leon and grandchildren Ella and Ruaridh.
