Dundee University Students’ Union bans legal highs
BySteven Dinnie
Legal highs have been banned from Dundee University students’ union.
Students at the union have been warned they could face disciplinary action if caught supplying legal highs.
The policy, which came into effect yesterday, will see students dealing any ‘new psychoactive substances’ being subject to the institution’s disciplinary by laws which include notifying police of any potentially criminal activity.
DUSA president, Iain MacKinnon, said: “We believe the use and sale of these should be covered by DUSA’s disciplinary by laws due to the inherent risks associated with many of these substances.
“However, we wanted to ensure those found under the influence of these substances were not harshly punished instead the emphasis is on those distributing the substances.”
