A young Dundee couple celebrated their special day with complimentary cocktails at the last wedding reception to be held in the city’s Hilton Hotel.
Sarah Selerowicz, 20, and David Roache, 19, had even more reason to celebrate as their wedding reception was paid for by the Hilton after Sarah won a competition.
The couple, who both work at Kentucky Fried Chicken in the city, were allowed 40 daytime and 40 evening guests. Sarah and her mum Tracey’s hair styling was paid for and the photography was also part of their prize.
Proud father of the bride Edward Selerowicz said the whole family were amazed when they were told Sarah’s name had been first out of the hat.
He said: “They won it at a wedding fair. They went to several and my wife always filled in the ticket and put it in the box and Sarah’s name was pulled out of the hat.
“It’s been a wonderful help and the Hilton have been really great, as have the bridal shops.
“The Hilton shuts in a couple of weeks and although they’ve got a couple of functions still to go they’ve had to shuffle a few things round.
“But this is the last wedding to be held there before it closes and gets demolished. Everybody’s been great and it’s been a wonderful day.”
After the heavy snowfalls this week the weather relented yesterday and, although bitingly cold, the snow and sleet stayed away, although it was a bit windy.
The couple were wed at St Pius Church in Douglas before heading to the reception.
Sarah said: “It’s been a busy day. We’ve been rushing about since half past seven but it has been worth it for an amazing day.
We’ve been looking forward to this day for so long.”
David said: “I just about cried when I saw Sarah coming down the aisle in her dress.”
