Lucky escape for drivers after heavy object thrown from A90 flyover
ByThe Courier Reporter
Police in Dundee are continuing to make inquiries into a heavy object that hit a lorry and car on the A90 on Wednesday night.
The item was thrown from the Emmock Road flyover at the top of Powrie Brae between 10.45pm and 11pm. It struck the windscreen of an HGV, directly in front of the driver.
The same item then struck the windscreen of a car travelling northbound in the offside lane, directly in front of the front seat passenger.
A spokesman for the force said: “Both the driver of the HGV and driver and front seat passenger of the car are extremely lucky that the item thrown from the flyover did not penetrate the cabin of either vehicle, the consequences of which would have undoubtedly been potentially life threatening.
“The seriousness and recklessness of this matter cannot be underestimated, and anyone who may have any information regarding this incident or who saw anyone acting suspiciously nearby, should contact Tayside Police on 0300 111 2222.
“Alternatively information can be passed anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
