Hillview centre vandalism makes some rooms ‘no-go areas’
ByThe Courier Reporter
The mother of a vulnerable woman who uses Hillview Resource Centre has claimed the council’s social work department failed to respond to her concerns about vandalism at the facility.
Windows have been smashed three times in two weeks at the Sense Scotland centre. Sandra Sapeluk has warned the social work department that some rooms could become “no-go areas” for her daughter and other service users.
Ms Sapeluk wrote to the council on February 13 urging action to protect people at Hillview but says she received no reply.
She said: “There is no sign that this vandalism is abating so it possibly will begin to impact the service users, if it continues, especially if some rooms become no-go areas.
“Dundee’s social work department has been conspicuous by its absence from this.”
A council spokesman said: “The city council has replied to this parent during ongoing correspondence and we will also respond to this latest contact.”
